Privacy Policy

CareerZen (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is a one-person career coaching practice operated by Lauren Albert. This policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and what rights you have over it.
We take your privacy seriously — particularly because the nature of career coaching means you share sensitive personal information with us. We collect only what we need to deliver the service, and we give you full control to export or delete your data at any time.
1. What data we collect
Account information: Your name, email address, and password (stored securely via Supabase Auth).
Profile and onboarding data: Phone number, current role, coaching goals, success vision, biggest fears, belief patterns, prior coaching feedback, confidence scores, learning preferences, and career aspirations. You provide this during onboarding and through career activity forms.
Career path data: Your responses to career exploration activities including role reflection, strengths, values, visioning, and outreach tracking. These are used to generate AI-powered career insights.
Session data: Coaching session priorities, notes, wins, and action items — created collaboratively during 1:1 sessions with Lauren.
Inner Coach session data: If you use the Inner Coach guided meditations, we store your journal entries (the text you write after each session), which meditation lines you star, and your session timestamps. The meditation videos themselves are pre-recorded by Lauren — you don't upload any audio or video.
Payment information: Payment method, transaction history, and contract details. Full card data is handled by Stripe and never stored by CareerZen.
IP address: Captured at contract signing for legal attestation purposes.
Usage data: Token usage history (which AI features you've used and when).
2. How we use your data
We use your data to:
- Provide, operate, and personalize the CareerZen coaching platform
- Generate AI-powered career insights, skill analyses, and coaching progress summaries
- Schedule and document 1:1 coaching sessions
- Process payments and manage your membership
- Send account and service-related emails (welcome, notifications)
- Maintain session records for coaching continuity
We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or share it with third parties except as described in Section 3.
3. Third-party processors
CareerZen uses the following third-party services to operate the platform. Each acts as a data processor under our direction.
Anthropic (Claude AI)
Purpose: Generates career insights, skill analyses, and coaching progress summaries.
Anthropic does not use API inputs or outputs to train its models. Data sent via the API is processed transiently to return a response and is not retained by Anthropic for training purposes.

Purpose: Hosts and streams the course lesson videos and the Inner Coach guided meditation videos.
We send no personal data to Cloudflare. Video playback uses adaptive streaming over HTTPS; standard request logs (IP, user agent) are retained by Cloudflare per their privacy policy.

Purpose: Hosts our PostgreSQL database and authentication system.
Data is encrypted at rest. Supabase is SOC 2 Type 2 compliant.

Purpose: Processes all payment transactions.
CareerZen never stores full card details. Stripe is PCI DSS Level 1 certified.

Purpose: Delivers transactional emails (welcome, notifications).
Only your email address and name are shared for delivery purposes.

Purpose: Syncs coaching session bookings into the CareerZen platform.
Session appointment data (date, time, email) is read from Lauren's calendar to create session records.

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all personal data is permanently deleted — including your career profiles, session records, coaching history, and Inner Coach journal entries.
Lauren may retain professional coaching notes for a period consistent with standard professional practice. These notes are not accessible to you via data export and are kept solely for coaching continuity purposes.
Payment records and signed contracts may be retained for legal and tax compliance purposes as required by law, even after account deletion.
5. Your rights
You have the following rights over your data:
- Access: Download a complete copy of all your personal data from Settings → Your data.
- Deletion: Permanently delete your account and all associated data from Settings → Danger zone.
- Correction: Update your name and email from Settings.
- Portability: Your data export (Settings → Your data) is provided in JSON format.

6. Security
CareerZen uses industry-standard security practices including encrypted data storage (Supabase/PostgreSQL with encryption at rest), HTTPS for all data in transit, and access controls limiting who can view client data.
No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. If you have reason to believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the “Last updated” date at the top. For material changes, we'll notify you by email. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
